Stellac® Kilns
Thermal Modification uses Stellac® kilns with steam, and very high temperatures to “cook” the wood, which changes the chemical, physical, and biological properties of the wood. Sugars and resins in the wood are changed so that they are no longer digestible by bacteria. The result is a board with uniform colour all the way through, increased stability, and most importantly, it is rot, mould and mildew resistant.
