    It is resistant to rot because the food sources for insects, bacteria and fungi have been modified through the thermal modification process.
  • What is in thermally modified wood?
    Nothing!   It is 100% wood.   No chemicals or toxins have been added.
  • Is it an environmentally safe product?
    Yes.   No chemicals or toxins have been added to the wood.   Making the product involves heat and steam, nothing else.   The wood that we use comes from sustainable forests.
  • How long will it last?
    It is expected to last 20 to 25 years, or longer.
  • Where can thermally modified wood be used?
    Decks, siding, outdoor furniture, fences etc.
  • What are the main advantages of thermally modified wood?
    It is an environmentally friendly, sustainable product.   It is safe for your family and pets because it contains no toxic additives.
  • What kinds of wood are used?
    Almost any kind of wood can be used for thermal modification.   The modification process can be adapted to meet the needs of different species.
  • Can I work with it like normal wood?
    Yes – it can be cut, sanded, routered, etc.
  • How much maintenance is required?
    Very little, if you wish the wood to retain it’s rich colour a UV protectant be applied every year or sooner depending on the area you live.
  • How do you dispose of extra wood?
    There are no environmental or disposal issues.
